District Military Coordination Committee

San Diego County is home to more than 110,700 active-duty service members and 240,000 veterans, making it one of the largest concentrations of military personnel in the country. San Diego is the home to 118,300 family members, which represents 7.6 percent of San Diego County’s total population.  An estimated 60.7 percent (71,759) of military families in San Diego County are children. Incidence of divorce and child abuse among military families is considerably higher than the general population.  Many veterans struggle with mental health issues and nearly 1,000 are experiencing homelessness, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

This website tracks the activities and events assisting military members and veterans supported by Rotary Clubs in the District 5340 and at the same time enable awareness of these activities. Archiving past events is also very important for lessons learned development and inspiration to formulate new efforts in the community and there is a place for that. There is also a section to help Rotarians find resources to potentially help veterans in the community. Finally, since volunteering is an important part of everything we do, there is a section to volunteer for various events identified by Rotarians.
